How it all began…

My love of lino printing started in 2013, when I started attending a class as a way of something to do during a spell of unemployment. Quite early on, something about the process and its results clicked with me, and I became excited to explore its potential.

I had always had an interest in visual arts, enjoying drawing, painting and sculpture whilst at school, and eventually graduating with a fine art degree from Lancaster University in 2005. I had done some printmaking during those years, but not a lot of lino printing, and had mostly just found it frustrating and challenging. However, picking it up again almost a decade later, I found that actually it was an ideal medium for exploring the ideas I was interested in, and I started to enjoy the challenges that came with it.

A lot of my prints are centered around architecture and urban spaces. These are still subjects that hold my interest to this day, focusing the details and evidence of human life, and the temporary nature of these environments as they evolve over time.

My aims are to continue with my practice, and in the not too distant future I want to do some small lino printing workshops in my local area. I also aim to continue participating in exhibitions, open studio events, and any other opportunities that arise.
